There is an agreement for the extraordinary redundancy fund for the 210 workers of Eurallumina in Portovesme.

The agreement was signed by the regional labor councilor Ada Lai, the Eurallumina Spa Company, Confindustria Southern Sardinia, the regional and territorial trade union organisations, Filctem-CGIL, Femca-CISL, Uiltec-UIL Territorial organizations of the Sulcis Iglesiente, Conf. Safi and the RSU/RSA of the Eurallumina plant in Portovesme.

The Cig was given the go-ahead for a period of 52 weeks, starting from 1 January 2023 until 31 December 2023.

«An important agreement for the protection of workers and their families - underlines the President of the Region Christian Solinas - which allows us to look with greater serenity to the future and to the relaunch of the company. The continuity of recourse to the social shock absorbers will allow the Company to carry forward the company relaunch and reorganization project, aimed at the modernization of the production plants and the definition of the legislative procedure relating to the energy procurement model to be adopted».

"The Region confirms its commitment - the councilor for Labor Ada Lai assured - to safeguard employment and continue the dialogues started in the institutional tables at national and regional level".

During the meeting - reads a note released by Villa Devoto - «the company reaffirmed its willingness to restart to carry on the production relaunch project, which in recent times has undergone a series of changes and slowdowns due to exogenous factors , independent of the corporate strategy, which have slowed down production. The overall plant modernization project, in fact, is subject to the resolution of two macro-problems relating to the high cost of thermal and electrical energy, as well as the poor quality of the bauxite required for production. The issue of energy procurement is held back by regulatory uncertainty, both as regards the sources that can be used and the methods of supply. Future investments by the Company, in fact, are conditioned by the release of the preliminary administrative authorisations».
