The latest proposal to amend the POR FESR Sardinia 14-20 was approved yesterday by the European Commission with which the share of EU funds still to be spent, equal to 164.7 million , which the Region is now preparing to certify for close the programming by July, thus avoiding any risk of defining: the Region will send the details of the expenses incurred and the Commission will verify the consistency with the type of expenditure.

The program should have been closed by 2023 - the expenditure for an intervention was divided into the EU share (50%), the State (35%) and the Region (15%) - but the Commission made it possible to report the interventions at 100% as expenditure EU. In July, the Region will therefore report the entire EU quota and close the program early.

"The go-ahead for the rescheduling proposed by the Region, which presages a closure of the programming in line with the objectives that the Region had set itself, ie to close the program one year in advance, came just three weeks after the official notification in Brussels and represents an extraordinary result obtained with tenacity and commitment, a clear sign of the Region's willingness to decisively influence the present and future development policies of Sardinia by supporting businesses and citizens and accompanying the recovery ", explained the governor Christian Solinas . "Thanks to the changes made, it will be possible to complete the reporting of planned expenses through the Sardinia Enterprise Emergency Fund (EFSI), necessary to effectively accompany the recovery of the Sardinian production system still burdened by the effects of the pandemic crisis", added the councilor for Planning and Budget, Giuseppe Fasolino .

In 2021, thanks to the modification of the POR FESR Sardinia 14-20 program, the endowment of the fund has increased reaching 150 million euros (to date 120 million have been disbursed, i.e. the totality of the EU resources put out to tender, responding to 186 Sardinian companies, with the other 30 million will be satisfied with all requests, reaching over 200 companies).

Councilor Fasolino looks very positively at the closure of the program in advance of the 2023 deadline: "With the activation by the Region of the '100% EU Option' all the expenses certified to the European Commission by July 2022 will be reimbursed in full from the budget Community, accelerating the absorption of ERDF resources ".
