ET to Sos Enattos, Bernini: «Turnover of 6 billion in 9 years, 36 thousand jobs just to build it»
With the conversion of the Pnrr decree, explained the minister, «we saved the process for the construction and stopped the wind farms. The competitor site? less suitable»Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"With the conversion law of the Pnrr decree-law, we have secured the correct conduct of the process for the construction of the Einstein Telescope, guaranteeing its priority over other economic activities in the areas where its construction is planned, including the wind farms which would have constituted a serious alteration of the ecosystem favorable to Italy's candidacy».
This was stated by the Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini , answering the question time in the Chamber and recalling that "Italy has invested almost 50 million euros in the project deriving from the Pnrr, putting together a network of laboratories to develop technologies necessary to delineate the key elements for the technical and engineering design».
The minister recalled all the steps, including the establishment of the technical-scientific committee chaired by Nobel laureate Giorgio Parisi "which will be responsible for promoting the Italian candidacy at a scientific level", which is that of the Sos Enattos site in Lula.
«Einstein Telescope - continued Bernini - will represent a strategic infrastructure for the country and for international research. The estimated effects will potentially produce a turnover of over 6 billion euros in 9 years and 36,000 jobs just for its construction . A sort of small Italian Cern, with all the necessary differences: Cern is a nuclear particle accelerator, ET is a gravitational wave observatory. We are facing a unique opportunity for economic and social growth".
ET will be a fourth generation observatory that will have to pick up gravitational waves for the study of the Universe. «Not only – specified Bernini – for theoretical applications , but also for practical applications on metallurgy, precision mechanics, optics, the capture of seismic movements, photonics, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies ».
The minister underlined the convergence of all the local authorities and political forces who shared the location in Sos Enattos, " a true paradise on earth, an area with very little anthropization ".
On the competing site however: « It appears less suitable than the Italian one in the light of the high anthropization of the surrounding area. In fact, the observatory requires the absence of seismic activity, a particular geological conformation and the maximum reduction of possible interferences ».
SOLINAS
"The government is close to Sardinia" , exults the president of the Region.
«We had the opportunity to show the minister the characteristics of Sos Enattos a month ago during her visit to Lula and together we noted the uniqueness of the site, sharing the need to do everything in our power to assure Europe that there is no other site with natural potential and characteristics that can compete with Sos Enattos ».
