The Special Economic Zone of Sardinia is now a reality. It establishes a special decree signed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers which contains two articles. One defines the Zes, created pursuant to article 4, paragraph 5, of the law decree no. 91 of 20 June 2017, converted with amendments by law no. 123 of 3 August 2017; in the second it is established that the duration of the Zes "is equal to 7 years, extendable for a further 7 years, at the request of the Sardinia Region", based on the results contained in the monitoring established by the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers No. 12 of 25 January 2018.

The document bears the signature of the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Roberto Garofoli.

SOLINAS - “Today is a historic day - comments the President of the Region, Christian Solinas -. The battle of Sardinia to conquer an advantageous tax system that covers the gap of its insularity is finally a reality. We can plan the relaunch of the Sardinian economy with a confident look to the future, ensuring the Sardinian production system that facilitated taxation that has been expected for decades, which can be the real engine of the economic recovery of our island. "" We complete a process that has seen us committed from the first moment with the aim of arriving at a plan shared with the Government that was the most careful and concrete response to the needs of our Island - he adds -. The hope, especially in this historical moment and in this delicate phase of restarting - is that the establishment of the Zes can lead to a historical turning point with important repercussions on the future of Sardinia ".

The Zes are now over four thousand in the world and are heading towards five thousand in the near future.
