Eni has set a maximum price cap for fuel sold by Enilive at €2.19 per liter for diesel and €1.99 per liter for gasoline . This represents a cost approximately 17 cents less than current average levels .

The price cap, Eni communicates in a note, is linked to the tax relief on excise duties and will be applied starting from September 28, for an initial duration of 30 days and with the possibility of extension until the end of the year , depending on market trends and supplies.

In Italy there are over 4,000 Eni service stations, all of which are Enilive, although some are still called Eni because they have not been “branded” externally.

Eni's statement states that the contraction in the supply of refined products on the international market, resulting from the ongoing geopolitical crises, combined with the limited refining capacity at a European level (almost 30 refineries have been closed in the last 15 years), has brought fuel prices to extremely onerous levels for Italian families and businesses .

In this context, «Eni intends to make a new contribution of solidarity to the country, to consumers and to its customers» .
