Sardinia ranks last in Italy and Europe for employment rate and availability of qualified personnel.

The serious difficulties of the Island were highlighted by the regional councilor for Labor Desirè Manca , who attended the conference, held in Rome at Palazzo Montecitorio, entitled: "Businesses and schools in a network to overcome the mismatch". "The numbers regarding unemployment in Sardinia - Manca highlighted - describe an alarming picture, which places us among the poorest regions not only in Italy, but even in Europe. Despite this - the councilor added - every day I happen to receive entrepreneurs who are unable to find qualified personnel to insert into their companies".

At the event, organized by Expo Training, Manca illustrated the “Filo Sardegna” measure, designed specifically with the aim of “training qualified workers based on the needs of companies”.

This is – explained the councilor – the «experimentation of a new didactic-organizational model that complements and completes the traditional training offer financed by the Sardinia Region, providing for the direct involvement of businesses , regional employers' associations and universities in the regional training system, thus establishing an organic and continuous connection between work and training».

But the latest data released by Istat on the occasion of Women's Day also reiterate how the creation of new jobs on the Island represents a priority that requires urgent action . Numbers that also in this case make us reflect: the female employment rate in Sardinia (equal to 52.4%) is lower by over 4 percentage points compared to the national figure (56.5%) and also the average female hourly wage (12.4 euros) is lower than the figure for the rest of Italy.
