A man of history, research, and rigorous study, who contributed to renewing the teaching of history on the island: the twelfth edition of the Emilio Lussu Award Festival is approaching, with a new preview in Cagliari this Thursday , in the tribute entitled " Giuseppe Serri. A Historian for Schools ." Guests Gian Giacomo Ortu , Gianfranco Tore , and the Le Pleiadi association—of which Serri was a longtime driving force—will pay tribute to the academic who passed away in 2014 from 6:30 pm in the Sala Rossa of the Hostel Marina , in the Santo Sepolcro steps at number 3 .

In the most recent cultural meeting promoted by the L'Alambicco association, not only will an important university professor and scholar of social history and historical demography be remembered, but also, and above all , an intellectual dedicated to the dissemination and renewal of teaching practices , still a point of reference for teachers, researchers, and enthusiasts of the discipline. While Ortu will recount his commitment to the Sardinian Institute for the History of Resistance and Autonomy , Tore will delve into Serri's valuable academic contribution, thanks to the methodological rigor and originality of his studies. Representing Le Pleiadi, Maria Tore , Graziella Capelli , Bruna Pitzolu , Nuncia Rita Russo , and Rosangela Russo will be honored in memory of the work they did alongside Serri in dissemination and teaching.

Born in Nule in 1934, the teacher and scholar earned a classical high school diploma from the Dettori High School in Cagliari, followed by a degree in Law. However, his interest soon shifted to historical and humanistic studies , leading him to the chair of Modern History at the Faculty of Letters in the city's capital, and he devoted himself to studies and research that are still fundamental today . This role also led him to reflect on the teaching of history, contributing to the development of new teaching tools and methods, including within the Teaching Commission of the National Institute for the History of the Liberation Movement . The last years of his life saw him promote Le Pleiadi , created with a group of teachers with the aim of promoting knowledge of the civil history of Cagliari and the surrounding area .
