From Ibra to Emerson the step is shorter than it might seem. Even if the goal record scored by the oldest player on the national football scene is in the middle.

The penalty goal scored against Udinese three weeks ago gave Zlatan Ibrahimovic the scepter of the oldest player to have enjoyed a goal in Serie A. With his 41 years and 166 days he surpassed Alessandro Costacurta's record who, in May 2007, had managed to exult for having hit the target at 41 years and 25 days old.

But it's not an absolute record. In Serie C there is a 42 and a half year old gentleman who not only continues to dictate the times of his defense at his commands, but who keeps a phenomenal free-kick shot. Emerson Ramos Borges, who ten years ago made his Serie A debut with Livorno, after some great seasons around Italy and in particular - at very high levels in the old Lega Pro Second Division - with Nuorese.

One of these goals, ahead of yesterday, allowed Olbia to take the lead in Recanati, in the match won by the whites from Gallura 2-3. This is how the oldest player to score in Italy graduated. On August 16, in fact, Emerson will be 43 years old.
