The Guasila Festival dell'Altrove returns for its ninth edition: from October 24 to 26, 2025, a journey through stories, words, and music in the heart of Trexenta. Under the artistic direction of writer Matteo Porru, the small town hosts writers, journalists, artists, and musicians in a program that blends literature, reflection, and performance for three days of welcoming words and questioning silences.
Among the most anticipated moments is the interview with Peter Gomez, scheduled for Saturday the 25th at 10:00 PM at the Teatro Fratelli Medas. The presence of the journalist, essayist, and host adds a powerful element of appeal to the festival, highlighting Gomez's ability to connect inquiry with democratic accountability through a critical account of power. In a context like the Festival dell'Altrove—where culture becomes a tool for openness and community engagement—his dialogue represents an opportunity to engage with the present and question the emergencies of our time.
The program opens on Friday the 24th at 10:00 a.m. with the inauguration in the presence of Regional Councilor Ilaria Portas and continues with writers such as Enrico Galiano, Antonio Galetta, Veronica Galletta, and entrepreneur Oscar Farinetti. Diego De Silva will close the first day. On Saturday the 25th, the packed program includes Vittorio Macioce, Cecile Pin, Nadeesha Uyangoda, and Serena Bortone. On Sunday the 26th, the closing ceremony will be held for the Giulio Angioni Prize for fiction and nonfiction, with awards presented to figures such as anthropologist Bachisio Bandinu and musician Eugenio Finardi.
Moses Concas, Beppe Dettori, Ilaria Porceddu, and Emanuele Contis will accompany the evenings with their musical interludes.
The Festival, which Mayor Paola Casula recognizes as "a source of great pride and profound emotion," is promoted by the Municipality of Guasila and organized with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Fondazione di Sardegna, and with the collaboration of the Association of Local Authorities for Cultural and Entertainment Activities.
Thus, at a time when the concept of "elsewhere" takes on increasingly broad and sometimes frightening meanings—crossing languages, identities, and internal boundaries—culture proves itself to be a form of freedom and active community. And ultimately, this is also one of the goals of the Festival of Elsewhere: to create a space where we can trace stories, listen to voices, and remain, at least for a moment, open to the other side.
