From the “I fratelli minori” shelter in Lida di Olbia, with a fractured paw, to the cover of Vanity Fair .

It is the story of Nello, the dog adopted by Elisabetta Canalis , a friend and supporter of the shelter, who will receive part of the proceeds from the book “Una zampa sul cuore”, which tells the story of the showgirl's love for animals and her adoptions.

"I've always been drawn to them," Canalis explains to Vanity Fair. "As a child , if I saw a dog on the street, I'd run to hug it. My parents were desperate; they'd say, 'They carry diseases, they bite, they're dangerous.' In fact, I've always had a very strong empathy for dogs : I can tell their mood from their faces. I can tell when they're bored, sad, happy. There's an inexplicable bridge between me and them."

Three dogs live with her and her ten-year-old daughter Skyler in Los Angeles: Nello, Josie, and Megan. All are adopted, with difficult histories of abandonment or abuse. "Nello lives for me; Josie is Skyler's favorite."

Lida from Olbia proudly shared the cover on her Facebook page: " Who would have ever imagined that day in May 2020 when Nello arrived at the shelter with his sad little face, that his life would become a wonderful fairytale? And how far have you come alongside your wonderful mother since the day you were adopted? Dear Nello, you are now a superstar and for years you have told the world about all the Little Brothers you left here at the shelter. If it's true that love works miracles, you are tangible proof that in life we should never give up, because destiny always has something magical in store for us. Give your mother and Skyler a kiss, thank them for being so special."
