Elena Ledda received the 2025 Golden Onion Award

"Over half a century of activity, Elena Ledda has brought her unique repertoire, which revives the memory of traditional singing, all over the world." From the smallest towns on the island to New York, Sydney, Tripoli, Rio de Janeiro, and many other international locations, Elena Ledda received the 2025 Golden Onion Award in Banari.
After the performance of the “ Cuncordu Banaresu ” choir, on the stage in Piazza Umberto, the prestigious award was presented by the president of the Pro Loco Francesco di Stefano together with the mayor Francesco Basciu and the creator of the prize, the art master Giuseppe Carta , who donated the work.
Interviewed on stage by journalist Salvatore Taras, Elena Ledda shared anecdotes and curiosities from her long career, beginning with her passion for tradition, her studies at the Cagliari Conservatory, and then her collaborations with great artists, including Andrea Parodi, whom she fondly remembered. Before leaving, Elena Ledda performed a song from her repertoire, sung live, without musical accompaniment, moving the audience, who responded with a resounding applause.
Immediately afterwards, the prize was awarded to the producer who grew the largest onion in 2025: it was won by Giovannino Mannoni from Torralba , with a bulb weighing 1,580 kilos .
