In Sardinia, purchases are growing through the MEPA, the electronic market of the public administration: out of over 167 million euros banned, more than 83 have been awarded by Sardinian companies.
In detail, according to the study office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, which examined the Mef-Consip data of 2021, on the island, on the total of 167 million and 837 thousand euros of purchases by the public administration, 50% of these, 83 million and 918 thousand euros, was awarded by regional entities through the electronic platform.
In Sardinia there is also an increase in authorized companies, which in 2021 reached 4,129 out of a national total of over 163 thousand.
As regards the value of purchases by local administrations at the provincial level, the most consistent numbers are found in Cagliari with 69 million euros, of which 60% went to local suppliers. In the regional capital, 1,419 qualified companies are registered.

The second position is occupied by Sassari, with almost 47 million purchases by the PA, 42% of which went to local businesses (848 enabled). Last, both in terms of consistency and percentage, Ogliastra: in the smallest province of Italy, there were only 3 million and 612 thousand euros purchases by the public administration through the MEPA, with 41% of the total going to 181 qualified local suppliers .

In 2021, at a national level, goods and services for more than 6 billion and 468 million euros were purchased through the MEPA. The data confirms the exponential growth of an instrument that today
it represents the main point of reference for public administrations for purchases of amounts below the Community threshold.

In comparison with the past, in 2020 there were 165 million euros of purchases by the PA and 48% of these, about 79 million, were awarded by Sardinian companies. In 2018, contracts for 133 million were announced in Sardinia, of which 72 went to Sardinian companies, while in 2019, out of 151 million, about 80 went to the island.
The MEPA is also confirmed as an instrument designed above all to involve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the public demand market. 99% of qualified companies belong to this category and almost 7 out of 10 companies are micro-enterprises, with less than 10 employees.
"Also during this year, still heavily affected by the pandemic, progress has been made in terms of companies present on the platform and transactions - comments Maria Amelia Lai, President of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna - because this tool, ensuring speed and transparency processes, guarantees the participation of small businesses in public procurement and, on the other hand, allows the PA to make use of local quality goods and services ".

"The hope - continues Lai - is that 2022 in Sardinia will also be able to establish a new record of tenders and awards for local businesses: increasing the Sardinian entrepreneurial basin in the service means having greater opportunities for development and stimulating the public administration to make use of of the goods and services of local businesses ".
