The official announcement will be made only on Saturday, when the parties and coalitions submit their candidate lists to the City Electoral Office. Meanwhile, however, the names of outgoing councilors and aldermen who have accepted candidacy and are seeking re-election are already emerging, as well as some well-known names who will be seeking a seat on the City Council.

The center-right

The center-right will almost certainly run with five lists supporting mayoral candidate Michele Cossa. Among the Sardinian Reformers , the outgoing mayor Paola Secci stands out, along with councilors Matteo Taccori and Mario Serrau, group leader Ignazia Ledda, councilor Francesco Argiolas, Giuseppe Picciau (formerly of Sestu Domani), Socialist Cesarino Piga, former councilor Lia Sechi, as well as Stefano Manunza, Letizia Bullita, Giovanni Loi, and Simone Pili. However, outgoing councilor Emanuele Meloni and lawyer Ilaria Annis, who has announced her support for Cossa, will not be present. Leading the Forza Italia group of candidates are deputy mayor Massimiliano Bullita, as well as outgoing councilor Laura Petronio, councilor Lello Argiolas, Riccardo Pieretti, and Rosanna Lai. While waiting for the Brothers of Italy list, the candidacies of Councilor Roberta Argiolas and outgoing group leader Maurizio Meloni appear to be a given. Mario Ziulu (president of Pro Loco), Antonio Mura (formerly a councilor, including a provincial one), and Roberta Recchia will also be on the list. The Sardegna Venti20 list, on the other hand, includes former councilor and councilor Francesco Serra, Antonio Perra (also a former councilor and councilor), Simona Pili, Tania Ugas, and Maria Ignazia Piras. Michele Cossa will also have access to the Sestu Insieme civic list led by Filippo Soggiu (who represents Cortexandra) and Desiderio Mallus (a deprived area).

The center-left

Four lists are supporting the center-left candidate, Michela Mura, former leader of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party will field outgoing councilor Fabio Pisu and former councilor Igino Mura, as well as Alberto Ferru (formerly a councilor under then-mayor Enrico Bullita). For the RiprendiAMOci Sestu civic list, former city councilor Antonello Medda will run, while the Five Star Movement will field outgoing councilors Valentina Meloni and Valentina Collu, and farmer Piero Taris, among others. The Alliance of the Greens and the Left (AVS) list also features prominent names such as Simone Cardia and Zaccheo Cara. Councilor Anna Crisponi, who joined the Sestu Domani group (despite being a member of Articolo Uno), will not run again. After twenty-one years on the City Council, the Sestu Domanui civic group, which contributed to the 2005 victory of Mayor Aldo Pili and the center-left's return to government in Sestu, will not run in the elections.

Sestu My Land

The candidates for the civic list supporting Antonio Manca (the outgoing City Council president, elected as a member of the League), who is running as an independent and challenging both Cossa and Mura, are still top secret. Final agreements are reportedly being finalized, but no names are currently being released.
