"EARTH. Homage to wanderers” is a festival of five events organized from 23 to 27 November by the Musica d'Oggi association with the support of the Municipality of Cagliari.
The festival represents the 19th edition of "Homage to ..." presented for the first time in Sardinia and has the aim of focusing in multimedia form on the theme of displacement, wandering and wandering through the valorisation of public places in the district of Is Mirrionis.
The Musica d'Oggi association has been involved in the organization of festivals and exhibitions since 1998 and with this 19th edition of "Omaggio a..." it takes on an accentuated multidisciplinarity, proposing the project "TERRA. Homage to the Wanderers”. He thus dedicates a testimony to specific types of human groups and cultures, in their own way evocative of diversified sensibilities and values. The aim is to increase knowledge of cultural and civilizational overlaps and correlations. Art, literature, music, dance and all the arts have always dedicated space to wanderers, to their interior dimension and to the fascination they arouse. The theme of wandering leads to the fascinating and evocative question in every Art: who is the wanderer? It is one who moves in one direction and another, without an obvious point of reference. Man has always been wandering and observes echoes of this condition in the surrounding world, even in the cosmos. Animals can wander, just as stars and planets wander in infinity. A wanderer is he who has no fixed abode, the nomad who walks without rest.
In addition to the theme of cultural in-depth analysis, the aim of the initiative is the valorisation of a sub-central area which is little frequented by cultural initiatives, such as the Is Mirrionis neighbourhood. Almost a Terra Incognita beyond the borders of the historic city, until the 1950s a vast space dotted with vineyards, shrubs and some military buildings, Is Mirrionis lived lives that were not always harmonious. Having lost its initial appearance of sparse countryside, having purified its subsequent image of a delinquent suburb, the neighborhood is in fertile change. It retains the vitality and community spirit of the original settlement nuclei, showing creativity, culture and propensity for the future. The whole of Cagliari can rely on these energies, to project itself outwards with its own dimension that does not conform to mainstream models and is made up of an exceptional plurality of social microcosms that coexist with each other without barriers and prejudices.

The Musica d'Oggi Association organized the event “TERRA, homage to the wanderers” in this way.
