Randy Meisner, bassist and co-founder of the Eagles, has died in Angeles at the age of 77.

The announcement was made by the band itself on its official website where it reads: “The Eagles are sad to announce that founder, bassist and vocalist, Randy Meisner, passed away last night (July 26) in Los Angeles at the age aged 77, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

"His vocal range – the musicians recalled – was astonishing, as evident in his signature ballad, 'Take It to the Limit'".

Meisner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 with the Eagles.
