The situation of the reservoirs in Sardinia presents a level of " low water severity " compared to the worrying drought phenomenon that is affecting the rest of the Peninsula. Supervision remains a must, but there is no risk of restrictions .
According to the latest data provided by the drought monitoring and early warning system activated by the Basin Authority, as at 30 June there were 1,421 million cubic meters of water in the Sardinian reservoir system, equal to approximately 78% of the useful regulation volume. authorized (values slightly higher than those of June 2021 where the total volume of pots was 1400 Mmc and a filling percentage of 76.79%).
Compared to May, the value of the water volume potted last month has however undergone a decrease , equal to 127 million cubic meters, due to the disbursements to the irrigation sector, to which additions have been gradually assigned with the aim of satisfying the thirst of the campaigns.
"Fortunately, the situation as a whole remains under control - explains the regional councilor for Public Works, Aldo Salaris - In some systems of North Western Sardinia (Bidighinzu, Temo, Cuga) there is a local level of average water severity, therefore a condition that even if it does not cause restrictions, it remains to be monitored constantly and with even more attention ".
Not surprisingly, the task of monitoring the water volumes of the reservoirs, which involves the Region and the Basin Authority, will continue its activity throughout the summer season in such a way as to guarantee the needs and prepare any emergency plans should they become necessary. , without affecting the stocks necessary to guarantee the full satisfaction of drinking water use.
"Overall - continues Salaris - the situation does not include restrictions, but vigilance and monitoring. A result we have achieved also thanks to an optimal management of the resource, the result of the positive synergy of all those who deal in various capacities with water and which belong to the Region ".
