Faced with the serious water crisis that is affecting several areas of Sardinia, the Region is preparing to introduce extraordinary measures.
The Councilor for Public Works, Antonio Piu, announced today the imminent presentation to the Council of an urgent bill that aims to strengthen the role of Enas (Sardinia Water Authority), attributing it new functions in the field of Civil Protection.
"We need immediate interventions, especially in areas like Sassari where the situation is particularly critical," Piu said. "With this extraordinary bill we want to allow Enas to immediately use resources to guarantee water sustainability in the coming months."
The measure is part of the work coordinated by the control room established to address the emergency, with the aim of responding to both immediate needs and planning long-term structural interventions.
At the heart of the current critical issues are also the works on the Coghinas aqueduct, financed with funds from the Pnrr, which are causing inconvenience and frequent breakages of the pipes.
"Without an extension of Enas's powers, it is difficult to guarantee timely interventions," the assessor underlined, addressing the representatives of all political forces. "A shared action is needed, with the commitment of the majority and the opposition, so that the Regional Council approves the necessary regulations as soon as possible. It is essential that the legislative and executive move in the same direction."
The bill should be discussed in the coming days. In the meantime, the alert remains high in many areas of the Island .
