" I am still optimistic, the Government does not take risks because the national and Italian interests are paramount. The Government was formed to do and this is the condition it has to do. And the Government cannot be done without 5 stars , this is my opinion".

Prime Minister Mario Draghi said this at a press conference, after the Council of Ministers, about the tensions of recent days with Giuseppe Conte .

"The Five Stars - explained Draghi - make an important contribution and I am sure they will continue to do so in the coming months. Conte has confirmed that he is not willing to leave the government and give foreign support, so I rely on this"

Again, said the prime minister, "the government was born with 5 stars, it is not satisfied with external support, because it values the contribution of the 5 stars too much to be satisfied with external support".

As for the measures adopted by the CDM, the government is working to tackle, among other things, the drought . "We are experiencing the most serious water crisis of the last 70 years - underlined Draghi - the water crisis has two factors: a rainfall deficit in recent years, climate change, but then there are structural causes such as poor maintenance of the basins and the entrusted network. to concessionaires with a loss of water that is equal to 30% while in other EU countries it is 5%, 6% ".

" We need an emergency plan - said Draghi - and from Monday we are ready to

approve the plans of the regions " .

In the Council, the premier announced, “ urgent measures have been approved to support the purchasing power of families: we reduce VAT and strengthen the social bonus , we intervene to increase the storage of natural gas and aid to families on bills . In the absence of these approvals - concluded the prime minister - there would have been a disaster with increases of up to 45% ".
