The documentary film Profondo Nero, directed by Roberto Pili and produced by Francesco Pili, won two important awards at the fifth edition of the Moon Arts Film Festival in Quartu Sant'Elena.
The director won the award for best male documentary maker, while Davide Lai, aka “Nero,” received an honorable mention for the strength and authenticity of his personal story.
The work recounts the human and creative journey of Lai, a historic figure in Sardinian graffiti, who found a path to redemption and healing through mural painting and hip hop culture.
Profondo Nero interweaves images, interviews, and music in an intimate tale of the transformative power of art, capable of becoming therapy, language, and memory.
The film also features regional and national artists and cultural practitioners, along with experts in the field of mental health, including Gisella Trincas, president of Asarp, and Dr. Alessandro Montisci. This collaborative dialogue captures the project's deeper meaning: demonstrating how creativity can foster healing and awareness.
Now in its fifth edition under the direction of Marco Oppo, the Moon Arts Film Festival continues to promote works with a strong social and artistic impact, consolidating Sardinia's role as a hub of contemporary culture and expressive innovation.
"This double recognition reminds us that art can be a bridge to healing and awareness," said director Roberto Pili. "Profondo Nero was born from the desire to transform pain into expression and sharing," added producer Francesco Pili.
