Double concert in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Sassari

Second evening with the Mediterranean Festival, the concert series of the cultural association "Arte in Musica" dedicated, in particular, to organ music. In the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Sassari, a double concert on Thursday at 8.30pm: the organist Fabio Frigato will open and will be followed by the Mistral Duo composed of Antonio Puglia (clarinet) and Mariano Meloni (piano). Entrance is free.
As in the opening concert of the season, the evening will focus on the theme "Between Gabriel Fauré and Giacomo Puccini", with the performance not only of pieces by the two composers whose centenary of death this year marks, but also of pages by authors contemporary.
Fabio Frigato will perform the Praeludium in D minor BuxWV 140 by the seventeenth-century German-Danish composer Dietrich Buxtehude, the second aria of the cantata Ich will auf den herren schaun BWV 93 by Johann Sebastian Bach and the organ adaptation of two other pieces by the great composer of Eisenach: the Allegro moderato from Sonata BWV 1027, originally written for viola da gamba and harpsichord, and the Andante from Sonata BWV 1030 for flute and harpsichord.
The second part of the evening will feature the Duo Mistral , founded over forty years ago by the pianist Mariano Meloni and the clarinetist Antonio Puglia, who have held numerous concerts in Italy and abroad. The duo boasts a vast repertoire that ranges from 1700 to jazz and contemporary music, with particular interest in the performances of nineteenth and twentieth century compositions. On the occasion of the concert at the Sacred Heart, he will perform famous film themes by Ennio Morricone, a tribute to Giacomo Puccini, Concertino by Ante Grgin, Tiger Rag by Nick La Rocca and Sholem-alekhem by Béla Kovacs.
