There is a universal language that does not need words: that of images . And precisely through the evocative power of photography, the project “Diversamente Uguali” aims to rewrite perceptions of disability. From October 6 to November 10, the “Francesca Sanna Sulis” library in Quartucciu , in via Pertini, will host the photographic exhibition curated by the journalist and photojournalist Maurizio Melis . Sponsored by the Municipality of Quartucciu and the Region of Sardinia, the initiative aims to raise public awareness on a topic as current as it is delicate: the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The inauguration, scheduled for Sunday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m., will be followed by a debate at 6:15 p.m. entitled “From Rights to Reality.” It will be a valuable opportunity to reflect on the rights of people with disabilities, starting from the recognition of their dignity and then addressing the daily challenges they experience.
Through Melis's lens, the lives of "differently equal" people are told in all their complexity, underlining that diversity is not a lack, but a resource.
The quote by activist Neil Marcus, which accompanies the exhibition, perfectly embodies the spirit of the event: "Disability is an art. It is an ingenious way of living." A reflection that invites everyone to look beyond appearances and recognize the unique beauty that resides in each individual.
