"I would like to extend my sincere apologies for the comments I made in a recent interview, in which I used an inappropriate term for my former company," Giovanni Veronesi said on social media.
Last summer, the Cremona winger asked to leave Dinamo (who wanted to keep him) by exercising his exit clause through a buyout. In a previous interview, Veronesi stated: " They acted like 'infamous' right up until the end because I wanted to leave. There was an exit buyout, usually paid by the team you're playing for. I didn't have a team, I told them I'd make them pay as soon as we signed. They told me they wanted it within two days, and my agent paid it for me."
Veronesi now apologizes: "I acknowledge that I used a completely inaccurate and offensive term , which in no way reflects my way of thinking, my way of being, and my way of interpreting, with strict respect for loyalty and correctness, interpersonal and professional relationships. My intention, though misinterpreted, was simply to criticize what I considered improper contractual behavior, certainly not to harm the honor and reputation of the company and its members. I therefore ask you to accept my apology, with the assurance that similar expressions will not be repeated in the future."
