The home opener is turning into a curse: Varese conquers PalaSerradimigni 105-102. Dinamo made the mistake of getting too caught up in the opponents' high tempo and lack of true pivots. Buie tops the scorer with 20 points. Varese's Nkamhoua-Alviti duo added 54 points.

After a balanced opening few minutes, Varese rained down three-pointers, especially from Alviti (15 points in one quarter), first taking a small lead in the first quarter, then a big one in the 15th minute when they went up by 15 points: 31-46. Coach Bulleri received a technical foul for a blatant foul call, and the atmosphere heated up in the stands and on the court with Thomas igniting his team and forcing a 16-4 run that reopened the game: 49-54 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the white-and-blues even went up by five but were quickly caught by Varese, who attempted a breakaway at the start of the fourth quarter: 78-85. A 9-0 run brought the score back into even territory, but coach Bulleri's decision to leave out a center to challenge Varese on their home turf ultimately proved unsuccessful. Nkamhoua secured the coup along with Freeman.
