Sixteen seasons in Serie A, but Sassari will never reach 600 games between the league, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana. Sunday's match at the PalaSerradimigni (5:00 PM) will be their last home game if Dinamo doesn't beat league leaders Virtus Bologna. Mrsic's team must win 2-2 in their final two matches (the final match is in Brescia) to hope to overtake Treviso or catch Cantù. And paradoxically, not even two wins are guaranteed, because if Cantù beats Treviso on Sunday and then Treviso beats Reggio Emilia on the final matchday, Banco di Sardegna will be relegated to Serie A2.

The Sassari-based club just published a post inviting fans to rally around the team, but for now there don't appear to be any special initiatives, such as discounted tickets to fill the PalaSerradimigni.

Dinamo hasn't won in six rounds and faces the strongest opponent in Serie A, where until 2022/23, Sassari had always managed to stay in the lower half of the table, except for the 2017/18 season, where they missed the playoffs. Over the past three seasons, there has been a relentless decline in enthusiasm and results, with the team's key players disappearing.

Fate seems written, but it's reasonable to expect at least a surge of pride, so as not to have to celebrate the sporting funeral in a stadium where until 2019 Dinamo played to win Italian trophies.
