Second defeat in a row for Dinamo. Very serious from a championship playoff perspective, because Napoli exploits the field factor (88-79) and moves to +2 in the standings with 2-0 over the Sassari team which weighs heavily with three days to go. A sumptuous Jefferson with 28 points isn't enough on an evening where too many fail: Turee, Charalampopoulos and McKinnie, as well as Kruslin who now has almost no impact on the attack.
Discreet start (4-8) but Owens makes a loud statement inside the area. Napoli often goes to the line: 18-13 in the 6th minute for the hosts. Cappelletti and Jefferson make up for it, but Charalampopoulos misses open shots and Napoli gets back ahead and even goes up 8 at the start of the second quarter: 29-21.
Jefferson almost alone holds the Sassari situation. Gombauld helps him, livelier than a dull Diop: 29-26 at 12'. Napoli tries to escape with Ennis' counterattack: 42-33 at 16'. Markovic calls a time out and upon returning the Bank has a very different face, especially with Diop dominating inside the area, so with a break from 10-0 closed by the triple of a super Jefferson (17 points) Dinamo goes into the break with the lead : 42-43.
In the third quarter Napoli comes back with more determination and takes a decisive lead: 59-51 in the 26th minute with two free throws from Brown. Sassari doesn't give up and gets closer, but McKinnie misses the two shots to overtake or equalize. Gevi escapes again in the last quarter: 75-67 in the 35th minute with two free throws from Ennis, also because Dinamo misses the free throws. 4/10 for Diop. The Bank disappears mentally and Napoli goes up 16 in the 37th minute. Race over.
