Dinamo comes very close to a comeback against Bilbao: 89-91 at PalaSerradimigni in the first game of the Second Round of the Europe Cup. The good game of the Sassari team remains, the positive use of Renfro as a "4" and also the quality minutes offered by the young pivot Vincini.
An unusual quintet with Cappelletti, Fobbs, Veronesi, Bendzius and the young Vincini who also holds off the Icelandic giant Hlinason, but Gielo scores 5 points and it's 0-7 at 3, so much so that Markovic calls a time out. Bendzius breaks the deadlock, but the Sassari defense is pierced by the excellent ball movement of the Basques: 6-15 at 7'. The addition of Tambone and Bibbins gives substance to the defense, Halilovic on the attack: 18-21 at the end of the quarter. Bendzius has a very hot hand from outside and seals the overtaking: 26-15 at 13'.
Banco also reaches +4 but then takes a partial of 13-4 that puts Bilbao ahead again: 36-41 at 18'. Frey scores 5 points on the unsportsmanlike doubt called on Bibbins and the deficit is in double figures: 41-51 at halftime.
In the third quarter the Basques dig a clear gap: 49-67 at 25'. With Renfro as a "4" and the double play, Banco has more rebounds and more play, 69-73 at 31' with the drives of Cappelletti and the three-pointer of Fobbs. A three-pointer by Gielo relaunches Bilbao who also benefits from some questionable referee whistles: 77-87 at 36'.
Dinamo does not die, Halilovic leaves for fouls but Vincini is a totem in the area, Tambone scores a three and a free throw for the -1 from 53”. Hlinason scores from below and then the two free throws for 86-91. Bibbins scores a three after two errors but there is less than 2 seconds left.
