Differentiated autonomy, Todde's anger: «An attack on Sardinia will make us poorer»
Furious governor: «A mechanism that rewards the richest regions, I don't rule out taking measures as an autonomous region»Differentiated autonomy is "an attack" on Sardinia , and the Region does not rule out taking measures against the law approved today by Parliament at the end of a lengthy session.
«A disgrace», thunders Alessandra Todde , «I believe it undermines the prerogatives of Sardinia, which are being watered down», and it is «an attack above all on our specialty». A provision, continues the President of the Region, which «will make us poorer and takes away from the Sardinians the essential resources for basic services» because «we will have to compete with all the other regions for a container which is the public budget, which does not multiply as someone would like, but they have well-defined and allocated money."
Differentiated autonomy, explains the governor, « is a mechanism that splits Italy, weakens the South and rewards exclusively the richest regions , also because it seems to me that Minister Calderoli is a bit reticent when it comes to talking about financial resources . It never says how differentiated autonomy is covered and how the regions are given the opportunity to exercise their prerogatives."
Todde is furious and on the sidelines of the Council meeting, answering journalists' questions, announces measures: «We will liaise with the other regions of the South to evaluate the initiatives, but I do not rule out taking other measures as an autonomous Region . It is important to get out of the logic of just demonstrating: now is the time for concrete actions. We are evaluating it with the general secretary and with the regional lawyers and we will reserve all possible tools, in all possible locations, to try to oppose this type of solution ", he explains.
The five-star governor recalls all the gaps that the island must cover ("infrastructural, linked to education and healthcare") and adds: "Now we have the further problem of having to compete with regions that over the years have become, thanks also to our contributions and taxes of all Italian citizens, richer than us ."
