«A shame, it dilutes the prerogatives of Sardinia, it is an attack above all on our specialty, we will no longer be just an island, but we will be poorer and we will have to compete with all the other regions for the public budget , which is not multiplying as some would like , but it has well-defined and allocated resources." These are the words of the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde , on the Calderoli law , approved on Tuesday in Parliament, relating to differentiated autonomy.

«A wicked measure, which will split Italy in two - thunders Francesca Ghirra , deputy of the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra -, making the Regions that already guarantee a good quality of services even richer, and impoverishing the South. On the one hand - with the premiership - there is a push for the centralization of powers in the hands of the President, on the other hand, a decentralization is being designed which will lead to an intolerable fragmentation of our country".

PD deputy Silvio Lai also intervenes in the case: «It's a very hard blow. To those who say that Sardinia is safe because it is a Region with a special statute, we reply that the resources come from the national dimension, if these are reduced they will be less for Sardinia too, as has already happened. What the majority pushed through with a nocturnal blitz is a real de facto secession."

For Michele Cossa , "father" of the special commission on insularity, «differentiated autonomy cannot be accepted without fully implementing the principle of insularity. In Rome they continue to ignore the geographical specificity of Sardinia, its need for modern connections and fast and safe road and rail infrastructures, for rules that make our economy competitive".

Senator Marco Meloni also raises his voice from the Democratic Party: «After a night of harsh opposition from the Democratic Party and the centre-left, at dawn yesterday the extreme right led by Giorgia Meloni chose to split Italy, imposing with the hard hammer of its majority the approval of the Calderoli law on differentiated autonomy. The forcing of time is evident and the episodes of parliamentary squadrism against opposition parliamentarians which accompanied the approval of the measure are reprehensible", continues the Sardinian parliamentarian, who adds: "With the Calderoli law the extreme right's plan to divide Italians into Serie A citizens, those who live in the richest territories, and Serie B citizens, those residing in the South and on the Islands. If this unfortunate provision were implemented, it would forever be impossible to bridge the heavy territorial inequalities existing in our country."
