Sassari prepares for a journey into the magic of Christmas with a show that combines literature, music, and theater in an emotional embrace that will captivate both adults and children. On Wednesday, November 26, at the Teatro Verdi, "A Christmas Carol Musical" will be performed, a stage adaptation of Charles Dickens's famous novel, directed by Melina Pellicano for the Compagnia BIT of Turin.
The opera seeks to restore to the audience all the richness and theatricality of the original text, bringing to the stage the story of old Ebenezer Scrooge, the cynical and miserly man who hates Christmas and ignores the suffering of others. The narrative faithfully follows Scrooge's journey of redemption: from the visit of the ghost of his deceased business partner Jacob Marley, to the spirits of Christmases past, present, and future, who guide him toward a profound inner transformation, teaching the importance of generosity, love, and the courage to change.
Over twenty artists will perform on stage, supported by one hundred and fifty costumes, impressive sets, and special effects designed by Alessandro Marrazzo. The original and captivating music, composed by Stefano Lori and Marco Caselle, will help make the show a complete sensory experience, where words and melody blend to convey all the magic of Dickensian Christmas.
“A Christmas Carol” is not only a story of personal redemption, but it becomes an opportunity for reflection: Christmas Eve becomes a moment of introspection and awareness, an invitation to reconsider one's actions and to choose to act with generosity and attention towards others.
The event, promoted by Danzeventi for the "Corpi in Movimento" dance festival, is organized in collaboration with the Sardinia Region, the Fondazione di Sardegna, the MIC (Milan Music Festival), and the Municipality of Sassari. It represents one of the city's most anticipated cultural events, bringing Dickens's magic to life through music and performance.
With “A Christmas Carol Musical,” Sassari doesn’t just celebrate Christmas: it celebrates literature, theater, and the universal power of stories to transform those who listen.
