Before he'd even spread the word on social media, his Island premiere, scheduled for February 7th at 9 pm at the Cagliari Conservatory Auditorium, with the show "Diary of a Trapeze Artist," was already sold out.
After many stops from the south to the north of Sardinia with his latest book, "La scelta," published by Bompiani, Sigfrido Ranucci makes his theatre debut with a new project.
And just yesterday, on his social media channels, the courageous investigative journalist, who loves Sardinia, announced a repeat afternoon program, again on February 7th, starting at 6 pm.
A love reciprocated by the public, who on every occasion showed him truly incredible affection: every presentation of his books, many of which took place last year, transformed into a riot of emotion, admiration, and applause, with endless lines for a selfie and a dedication with the man who today represents, without a doubt, one of the most sincere, appreciated, and authentic champions of legality and transparency.
It seemed impossible to replace and match the success of a force of nature like Milena Gabanelli on one of Rai's most popular formats, "Report," but Sigfrido Ranucci, with his direct and no-frills style, the anti-star par excellence, a humble person and available to everyone, won the hearts of millions of Italians.
And now his first play, which premiered nationally in Spoleto last September, is in high demand throughout Italy, and in every theater the script is always the same: sold out.
"Diary of a Trapeze Artist" is the previously unpublished theatrical account of an intimate and personal Sigfrido Ranucci, far from the spotlight of television.
A journey through the lesser-known episodes of his professional and private life, including uncomfortable investigations, unexpected encounters, and choices that changed the course of his investigations and his existence.
Drawing on Report's extensive journalistic investigations, Ranucci weaves a moving narrative on stage, featuring true accounts, borderline characters, and extreme situations that often escape the spotlight but are crucial to the success—and risk—of his work.
A vagabond who helps him get the scoop on Fallujah and white phosphorus, a taxi driver who takes him to Tanzi's secret art gallery, a Swiss producer who saves him from a political plot. And then: a robber from Puglia, a vice principal who is complicit in the investigation, a teacher with her video camera ready at the right moment, a bodyguard who foils an internal sabotage at RAI.
On stage, "Siegfried the Trapeze Artist" takes shape, balancing information and danger, courage and fragility, investigation and life. Because every person he met—even if only for a moment—has left a mark on him, a lesson, a piece of themselves. A powerful, sincere, and truthful monologue that reveals what isn't seen on TV, but which has made possible the most celebrated investigations in Italian journalism.
