The problem of expensive flights to Sardinia and Sicily "is one of the issues that must be addressed and resolved, not in Rome, but in Brussels".

These are the words of Nello Musumeci, Minister of Maritime Policies, on the sidelines of the Fratelli d'Italia convention, "Italy, the roots of beauty" underway in Brucoli, in the Syracuse area.

«We need to focus on the air connection not only for the tourist phenomenon which could see us as the first attractive center in the Mediterranean - he added - but in the meantime for the people who have to go to Sardinia or Sicily for work reasons. Unfortunately, there is a lack of serious European policy to support social travel. Nobody wants to travel to Sicily for free, but it is also not possible to legitimize that the cost of a plane ticket from Catania to Milan should cost more than a Rome-New York one. And people don't go to Milan for shopping, but also for health reasons or family needs."
