David Lynch has died at the age of 78. His family announced the news on their Facebook page: "It is with great sadness that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and artist David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There is a big hole in the world now that he is no longer with us. But as he would say, 'look at the donut and not the hole.' It is a beautiful day with bright sunshine and blue skies everywhere."
Lynch is a true genius of cinema, one of the most beloved directors in history. His visionary style was a true revolution, for cinema and television. Director of Dune, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive . And of the cult series Twin Peaks that in the nineties kept half the world glued to the screens wondering "Who killed Laura Palmer?".
Born in Missuola, Montana, in 1946, Lynch spoke in a long interview last year about his chronic addiction to smoking and revealed that he suffered from a severe form of emphysema that prevented him from leaving the house and directing films anymore.
