August down in hotels in the North West of the Island   which lose approximately eight percentage points compared to 2022 . This was announced by the Federalberghi-Confcommercio Study Center of the Province of Sassari which analyzed the data received from a considerable sample of associated structures between Stintino, Alghero, Sassari, Valledoria, Castelsardo, Porto Torres, Sorso and internal areas. The presence of compatriots, again in relation to the sample, was 50,071, those from beyond the Alps 64,807 .

The room occupancy rate for the month of August stopped at 79.11% , compared to 87.16% in the same month of 2022 and 79.91% in 2019.

Alghero, as always, records better performances , but still marks a decrease: room occupancy stops at 82.44%, far from the 90.59% of August 2022 and the 89.78% of 2019.

«The forecasts that we had hypothesized at the beginning of the season are confirmed - comments the president of Federalberghi-Confcommercio Province of Sassari, Stefano Visconti - with a significant drop in room occupancy relative to the selected sample, in any case close to 40% of all hotel structures operating in the province , which are more than one hundred. Eight percentage points of drop, on a provincial basis, which can weigh on the budgets of accommodation facilities given that the same drop is totaled in August, notoriously the month in which the greatest revenues develop".

Regarding the causes of the lower employment, there is confirmation of the difficulties of the internal market, both Sardinian and beyond the Tyrrhenian Sea, the real driving force of the month of August.

«The income difficulties of Italian families - says President Visconti - and worries about the near future have put the brakes on spending on holidays and investments in free time , a fact certified by a lower incidence compared to the historic numbers of compatriots present registered in our accommodation facilities. On the other hand, the unfair and now unsustainable competition of those who offer hospitality in second, third and fourth homes, in defiance of any rules governing the matter. We compete in the same market, with different and unquestionably much more onerous rules for our category. This leads to much more convenient price lists for beds in accommodation other than hotels ."
