There is just over a month to go until the release on Disney + of “Daredevil: Born Again,” the Marvel Studios television series that promises to relaunch the heroic exploits of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen to insert them into the tortuous plots of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With a debut date set for March 4, the show will connect to the events of the previous adaptation of Netflix, which we remember for the three seasons of “Marvel's Daredevil” that began in 2015.

Reprising much of the rough and mature atmosphere seen previously, we are treated to an even more evolved setting and plot, for a final effect that will not fail to surprise.

Since the release of the first official trailer on January 15, we can see that the strong content and high level of violence - as hoped by fans - have been largely maintained, if not even surpassed. As anticipated some time ago by Brad Winderbaum for Entertainment Weekly, the head of the Marvel series assures that in “Daredevil - Born Again” we will witness something never seen before in the franchise in terms of brutality and action: “I will tell you that in Daredevil: Born Again there will be some of the most brutal action scenes that we have ever reproduced on the screen; it is not a horror, but it is very powerful and contains action that is nothing short of visceral”.

As we can see, the film focuses on a confrontation between Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, who has always been the adversary par excellence of the scarlet superhero. We discover from the conversation that the former has decided to hang up his mask to retire to private life, while the latter intends to start a political campaign to run for mayor of New York, showing himself for the first time to be honest and well-intentioned. The images that intersperse the dialogue reveal extreme combat scenes, as well as well-known characters such as The Punisher, who appears profoundly changed and tried by his previous experiences. In a situation of only fictitious calm, Matt will find himself forced to don the vigilante costume once again, to prevent Fisk's machinations from bringing the metropolis back under the yoke of his criminal empire.

Among other curiosities, we can glimpse Matt involved in a dance sequence with a still unknown female character. At the moment no details have been provided on the subject in question, except that the actress is Margarita Levieva, recently appeared in the television series "Star Wars: The Acolyte". But imagining it is Matt's romantic interest, the profile could correspond to that of Heather Glenn, known in the Daredevil comic series by Frank Miller: a woman who will become invaluable for the contribution provided to the law firm where the lawyer and his colleagues work. Alongside the irreplaceable Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, respectively the interpreters of Daredevil and Kingpin, some familiar faces that fans have welcomed with passion in previous appearances will return, such as Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

Initially planned as a complete reboot, “Daredevil: Born Again” has seen a long series of structural changes during its development, finally taking the definitive form of a show that continues with the past and is able to expand on its foundations. Charlie Cox revealed a few more details on this aspect last year during an interview: «At the beginning there was talk of reinventing the whole story, to see if Matt was a slightly different person. But in the end it was more of a continuation. The relationships and dynamics that were created in the previous seasons are still there. It's just been a few years. In that time, Matt, Foggy and Karen have found a good rhythm. Matt has made peace with his role as a lawyer and a vigilante. Then, of course, everything goes to pieces».

Almost as if predicting its success, Marvel Studios is already in the early creative stages of the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again.” According to the latest rumors, filming of the new episodes should begin as early as the end of February, in line with Charlie Cox's previous statements that assured work would begin before the first season airs. At the thought of playing Daredevil for a long time, the star has proven very willing and amenable, as implied by the following statement: “They're getting ready to publish a comic book where Matt Murdock is 60 years old, so I thought, oh, okay, great, so we have some time!”.
