From the virtuosity of Eric Johnson's guitar, to the depth of singer-songwriters like Daniele Silvestri, Sergio Cammariere, and Alberto Fortis, from the brilliant irreverence of Tony Pitony and Fabio Celenza, to the Mediterranean disco-funk of Nu geneae, to the cinematic funk-jazz of Il mago del gelato.
These are some of the big names on the bill for the 28th edition of the "Abbula Festival," scheduled for June 26th to July 23rd, with two previews on May 7th and 9th. The festival was presented this morning at the Palazzo della Città Metropolitana in Sassari by Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, Barbara Vargiu of the Ragazze Terribili group, the event's organizers, the Mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas, and Elena Cornalis, the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Sennori. In addition to the aforementioned artists, Abbabula will also feature Zè Ibarra, the ever-present Tony Hadley, and the groove of Neapolitan band The Funkin' Machine, with an interesting DJ set by Napoli Segreta, which will be combined with Habibi Funk in the evening.
Making the festival concerts even more fascinating will be numerous opening live sets with Becciu (opening the evening with The Funkin' Machine + Mago del Gelato), Alessandro Azara (Alberto Fortis), Bianca Frau (Sergio Cammariere), Doc Sound (Eric Johnson), the DJ set of the Dopos*le project by Sassari producers Benelli and Azzena (closing the concert by Zé Ibarra), and finally the bands Mad Dog, Vulika Rot and La Terapia, in an evening that will be closed by the concert of the Sicilian Santamarea, overall winners of Musicultura 2023. The jazz singer Francesca Corrias and the Disorchestra , a splendid group composed of young and talented musicians from the island, after the successful tribute to Lucio Dalla last year, will be the protagonists of "Senza Fine - prestito a Ornella Vanoni", an original production of Abbabula 2026.
