Genoa announced in a statement that Daniele De Rossi has taken over as coach, replacing the dismissed Patrick Vieira.
The coach has already met with the squad and will lead his first training session this afternoon. De Rossi will make his debut on Sunday at the Ferraris stadium against Fiorentina, although he will have to remain in the stands due to a one-match suspension.
The club announced that De Rossi will be presented tomorrow, along with new sporting director Diego Lopez. In the statement, the club thanked Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito, who served as interim coaches against Sassuolo, "for yet another demonstration of their dedication to our colors." It was under these two interim coaches that the Grifone managed to secure its first league victory.
Genoa hosts bottom-of-the-table Fiorentina on Sunday. The Tuscan club has dismissed Stefano Pioli and is increasingly close to appointing Paolo Vanoli.
