An island treated by the state as a territory on which anything could be done, "without engaging in dialogue with those who live there." The dance performance " La Burattina di Stato," a new production by the Senza Confini Di Pelle company, will make its world premiere on Sunday, June 14th at 9:00 pm at the Teatro Civico in Sassari. The show is based on the book "In the Interest of the State. Asinara Island between the National Park, the Red Brigades, and the Cosa Nostra," written by Vittorio Gazale , director of the Park Authority, winner of the "Piersanti Mattarella" literary and journalism prize in the investigative books category.

Rather than retracing individual events and stories, the dramaturgy of “La burattina di Stato” evokes “the state of mind and emotions of those who lived on Asinara, and Asinara itself is personified by the dancer Martina Auddino . She represents the soul of the island and its nature,” anticipates Dario La Stella, artistic director of the company together with Valentina Solinas. “Another important aspect of the creative work was the inclusion of videos, some made for the occasion, some from the Park archives , to highlight the territory and the historical context and convey the political dimension of Italy from the late nineteenth century to the present.” Another valuable element are the two original musical pieces, composed and performed by Alice Doro, and the costumes designed by Fabio Loi.

"La Burattina di Stato" opens the 5th edition of the international Aria Performing Art Festival , organized by Senza Confini Di Pelle. The show was created as part of the Overlap - Events between Art and Science project , which Senza Confini Di Pelle has been running since 2019 with the support of the Fondazione di Sardegna and the partnership of, among others, the Asinara National Park Authority, the Municipality of Porto Torres, and the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari.
