WORK: THE KEY TO NEW POSSIBILITIES

"The search for a job is often the main reason that pushes young Sardinians to leave the Island", underlines Massimiliano Testoni , president of the Circolo. "In Emilia-Romagna, an attractive and lively region, many have found not only professional opportunities, but also a welcoming community in which to put down roots".

The stories told in this episode reflect these dynamics: a delicate balance between necessity and ambition, nostalgia and personal fulfillment.

STORIES OF TRANSFORMATION

The second episode of the project “D'Istanti. Volti e voci di Sardegna” explores the theme of work, telling the stories of those who left Sardinia to build a future in Emilia-Romagna. Between sacrifices and new opportunities, stories emerge that testify to the value of change.

The episode opens with the story of Carla Cidda , originally from Orune, who decided to leave the island for study reasons, landing in Parma where she works as a nuclear doctor. The interview takes place in the historic Oltretorrente area of Parma, where Carla talks about her choices, which led her to build new job prospects. An experience that speaks of determination and adaptation in an environment different from her hometown.

The following is the story of Giovanni Esposito , born in 1997 in Oliena. Giovanni, like the famous Gianfranco Zola, originally from the same town, is deeply passionate about football, a tradition that ties him to the cultural roots of his homeland. However, moving to Parma offered him the opportunity to reinvent himself professionally. Today he works in the banking IT sector, demonstrating how new opportunities can arise even in the most unexpected contexts and that change, if embraced with openness, can lead to unexpected growth paths.

The third interview is dedicated to Maria Elena Serra , originally from Dorgali, who left Sardinia in 2008 to follow her childhood dream: working in a bank. Overcoming obstacles and facing important choices, Maria Elena has been able to enter this sector and build a career that combines ambition and passion for her work.

The episode closes with Roberta Brundu, born and raised in Bonorva, who has found her space in Langhirano, where she deals with food safety. Roberta tells how the move and ambition have led her to achieve significant goals, building a career in a crucial field for the Emilia region.

A FAVORABLE CONTEXT FOR GROWTH

The experiences of Carla, Giovanni, Maria Elena and Roberta lead us on a journey that intertwines roots and opportunities, showing how Emilia-Romagna, and Parma in particular, have proven to be lands capable of welcoming and transforming. For each of them, moving to this area has meant not only finding a job, but also rediscovering themselves, facing new challenges and learning to see change as an opportunity for growth.

In this scenario, work is not just a means, but becomes the bridge between the past and the future, between Sardinia and a new way of life. Yet, in these lives that reinvent themselves, the bond with the land of origin remains strong: a thin but resistant thread, which connects the determination of the present to the memory of an Island that continues to inspire their steps.
