Tadej Pogacar never stops and also conquers the Freccia Vallone 2023. After winning the Amstel Gold Race just three days ago, the Slovenian also wins the second round of the Ardennes Triptych by imposing himself on the Mur de Huy finish line.

The Uae team rider placed the decisive acceleration in the last 200 meters by making a vacuum on his opponents, including the Danish Mattias Skjelmose (Trek-Segafredo) and the Spanish Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious), who finished with him on the podium in second and third place. Fourth place for Michael Woods (Israel-Premier Tech) ahead of an excellent Giulio Ciccone (Trek-Segafredo), first of the Italians on arrival.

«It was very hard, the wall is really spectacular. I'm happy to be so fit, I'm making the most of these moments. Winning is never boring» commented the Slovenian. Prediction respected, therefore, with Pogacar who manages to conquer the first Freccia Vallone of his career. The Slovenian chooses the timing of the attack on the final Mur de Huy well and reaches the finish line with a margin, crowning the patient management of the final race by the its UAE Emirates.

His campaign in the Ardennes continues without a hitch and on Sunday, in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège already won in 2021, he will be able to complete a trio that in the past only Davide Rebellin (2004) and Philippe Gilbert (2011) managed in the same year. At Doyenne everything will be more complicated, but the favorite can only be him. The day's breakaway starts practically immediately, starring Daryl Impey, Lawrence Naesen, Georg Zimmermann, Jacob Hindsgaul, Soren Kragh Andersen, Raúl García Pierna , Johan Meens and Jetse Bol. The group, led by Pogacar's UAE Emirates, checks that the gap never exceeds 4', then at -100 km they start pulling. The group of pacesetters thus loses its pieces, at -30 Kragh Andersen remains in the lead, chased and joined by a courageous Samuele Battistella and Louis Vervaeke. The trio arrived ten kilometers from the finish line with a fifteen second lead, then Pogacar's teammates moved in, primarily Ulissi, who mended the tear on the Mur de Huy on the last survivor, Vervaeke.

The Slovenian waited for the right moment, sprinted 200 meters from the finish and conquered the Freccia-Vallone by force. In the women's race, success for the Dutch Demi Vollering (SD Worx), second for the German Liane Lippert (Movistar), third for the blue Gaia Realini (Trek-Segafredo).
