A regular fixture in Sardinia's hottest event season, which once again lights up the "museum town" this year: the twenty-third edition of the Cuncambias Popular Culture Festival opens in San Sperate , in a program that once again prepares to involve the San Giovanni district with shows, concerts, exhibitions and workshops until Sunday 2nd . The theme chosen for this year is " The whole world is... ", in a closing event open to interpretation in several ways.

The calendar

With yesterday 's inauguration which saw the alternation of Salvatore Gatto 's family theatre in " Pulcinella, five hundred years well carried ", the meeting " Survival practices " with Carlotta Vagnoli in the company of Arrogalla and Elio Turno Arthemalle , the scenic outcome of the workshop " From up here "   and finally Luisa Briguglio live with her Quartet , the historic festival is now preparing to liven up the three days of the San Sperate weekend.

Today begins again in San Giovanni Park , opening at 10am with " Scoperta ", a workshop curated by the Anselmo Spiga Library , and continuing at 7:30pm with " Il grande albero delle storie ", a show by Elena Carrano with Selene Manca and directed by Rahul Bernardelli , for Le Compagnie del Cocomero . At 8:25pm, the short concert features the brutal folk of Makika , preceding the talk " Village People. Weaving the community ", hosted by Marco Piredda and featuring guests Nanni Angeli , Carlo Coni and Emiliana Sabiu . We move to Piazza San Giovanni , where at 10pm the " Storie in piazza " with Stefania Spiga begins, followed by the highly anticipated " Il Circo Strombolino " with the king of laughter Benito Urgu , presented by Filippo Martinez . We return to the Antas premises at 11:15 pm , for the theatrical performance " Che tempo fa lassù " by and with Alice Viglioglia . In parallel, street activities are planned with the music of Sulle ali notturne (Kasia Kwolek and Igor Lampis) and the " Spassiadroxu " workshop with Ado Sanna , starting at 9 pm .

And it continues from the morning of Saturday 1st, still at the Park , where at 10am the jam session of " Colazione in Dub " takes place, before the evening gets underway at 7.30pm with " Gran Cabaret! ", featuring Edoardo "Dodo" Demontis , Francesca Lissia , Celso Pereira and Jose Luis Redondo . This is followed at 8.25pm by the first, short concert of the evening by Pierpaolo Vacca in solo at Spazio Antas , which introduces the meeting " Arrosigò! Di calcio, natnazionali e chiacchiere da bar " with the great former rossoblù players Mario Brugnera , Vittorio Pusceddu and Giuseppe Tomasini , presented by Mauro Ibba . Back in Piazza San Giovanni from 10pm , with the " Stories in the Square " featuring Anna Cristina Serra , before the staging of " Sonata per tubi " by the Nando e Maila Company , returning to Antas at 11.15pm for " Sonus de barraca! ", a duo concert by Vacca and Arrogalla. The outdoor events continue, with the theatre of Burrumbàliga (aka Andrea Pilo) and the rock of the neighbourhood band Revolt , again from 9pm .

An intense closing event for Sunday 2nd , with the Park becoming a theatre at 10am for the readings of " Reading minuscule " with Emanuela Di Stefano and Daniela Melis , while at 7.30pm the circus-theatre " La Piedra de Madeira " by the Compañía de Circo "eia" takes place. A final short concert at 8.25pm by Enrico Frongia in solo at Spazio Antas , before giving way to " Feminisms - Past, present and future (featuring Joyce Lussu) " with Alessia Farci , Bastiana Madau and Paola Soriga , conducted by Matteo Sau . And at 10pm we return to the square , in the special literary meeting with the famous author Cristina Caboni , followed by the theatre-concert of " Bandidos! " with Giacomo Casti and the Nur sextet (Daniele Cuccu, Enrico Frongia, Massimo Loriga, Massimo Perra, Alex Picciau, Valter Spada), enriched by the live drawings of Gildo Atzori : the group is also the protagonist of the grand finale at 11pm with " Sardinian dance disco ". The last street activities begin at 7pm , including the book-crossing in the square by the Spiga Library, the belly dancing by Francesca Cara and the poetry of " C'è questa volta ", with Andrea Serra .

The installations

This year too, the festival lives up to its mission of urban transformation and the valorization of local craftsmanship, with a mural in homage to Roberto Pillitu at Via Arbarei 19 , created by Michele Altieri and Angelo Pilloni and curated by the non-profit organization Libera La Farfalla , while Giampaolo Spiga intervened yesterday on his fresco " La Libreria ." At Casa Matzutzi , you can also visit the installation " Arrogalla - Suite. Trame sonore, Sviluppi Intermedia ," winner of the Pac 2024 and promoted by the Nivola Museum, with illustrated scores by Carol Rollo . The streets of the neighborhood will remain adorned, for the entire duration of Cuncambias, with colorful flags created and installed by the local community.
