Focusing on the presence of cruise passengers is one of Cagliari's objectives and for this reason a long meeting took place between the mayor Paolo Truzzu and the general manager of Costa Cruises, Mario Zanetti.

The company's program for the capital foresees the arrival of three ships on three different days of the week with walks between the center, the Poetto and the Molentargius area.

On average, it is estimated that each tourist leaves an average of 70 euros in the city they visit and the aim is to raise this share.

"It will be interesting to evaluate how to intensify the presence of tourists in Cagliari in order to enhance our city more and more - said the mayor - We have a whole series of attractions ranging from monuments to food and wine, passing through the crafts, museums and all cultural points in general, all to make Cagliari grow with the collaboration of all operators ".

Costa also, in anticipation of a new definition of the Mediterranean routes for 2023, could give more space to the Sardinian capital with the arrival in the city of the ships Smeralda and Toscana. “Poetto beach comes to mind, which could become - explained Zanetti - a destination for cruise passengers who disembark at the port or for organized excursions through the streets of the city”. And Truzzu immediately relaunched: “We could also focus on the Molentargius Park where flamingos nest”.

The director of Costa Cruises also met with the president of the Authority Massimo Deiana and the marketing manager Valeria Mangiarotti. “We are very satisfied - underlined Deiana - with the future prospects for the island market. We appreciate the particularly encouraging approach of the group which suggests a more constant and structured presence of Costa Cruises in our system ports ”.
