152,000 passengers passed through the port of Cagliari in the 2022 cruise season.

Not record-breaking figures but which certify the recovery of the sector after the pandemic.

The data was released this morning at Palazzo Doglio by Cruise Port, part of the Global Ports Holding group. There are 8,270 embarkations, 8,537 disembarks, 13 double and 4 triple landings.

"Operational activity will resume on February 22, 2023 - announced Raffaella Del Prete, general manager of the Italian ports of the Gph group (Catania, Cagliari, Taranto and Crotone) - with the arrival of the Aidablu cruise ship of the Aida Cruises company, for then continue until December with a calendar that includes 123 calls from 25 different shipping companies».

Among the first companies in the terminal is Costa Cruises, which in 2023 expects 33 calls with over 84,000 guests. Also important are the numbers of the US Virgin Voyages (11 landings and 21,000 guests).

"It is of fundamental importance to make the Cagliari airport 'Homeport' - added Del Prete - by introducing the multiple airport in a single itinerary, thanks to the multiple air connections and the hotel offer".

«Although still far from the record numbers, we can be satisfied with the cruise season that has just ended in the port of Cagliari - commented Massimo Deiana, president of the Port System Authority of the Sardinian Sea -. Although it was a year of transition at a global level, in 2022 we saw the number of berthings surpassed in the pre-crisis period and, already in 2023, once the ship fill factor has been normalised, we are aiming for a positive balance».
