Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first billionaire soccer player, according to Bloomberg, which estimates the Portuguese ace's net worth at $1.4 billion.

The wealth of the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus striker, now playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, is said to have received a decisive boost thanks to lavish sponsorships such as those from Armani and Nike.

But his latest contract extension with Al-Nassr, signed last June, also had a significant impact on his net worth, bringing the 40-year-old player over $400 million.
