From Marlene Kuntz to his solo career. "Stammi Accanto" is his second solo album, and Cristiano Godano will perform it, along with other songs, on Sunday in Castelsardo, in Piazza Santa Maria at 10 p.m., as part of the Musica sulle Bocche festival. He will be accompanied by Guano Padano. The band is composed of guitarist Alessandro "Asso" Stefana (Vinicio Capossela, PJ Harvey), bassist and double bassist Danilo Gallo (co-founder of the independent collective El Gallo Rojo Records), and drummer Zeno De Ross (Drummer of the Year at Musica Jazz 2011).

Cristiano Godano, "Stammi Accanto" was created during Covid, is it affected by the gloomy climate?

"I was trying to get out of that situation creatively, I tried to put together some songs. The album is very reflective, there are many things that look inward, the period certainly encouraged introspection."

What does the Guano Padano band add to the songs?

«Playing with Guano Padano is very exciting because they allow me to bring to the stage a world of sound of elegance, refinement, intensity and caress».

In “Dentro la ferita” you sing “I gave a name to my demon” what is Godano’s demon?

«Music, in all respects, was my only reason for living when I was young».

Artists born in the '70s and '80s are still playing, but today the system wants to concentrate an entire career in three or four years, squeezing the most out of it. What's your take on this?

We'll have to wait and see if any of these musicians will continue their careers after three or four years of hard work. The internet is changing the face of music, and it's being made for free, but I don't know how long the system can sustain it. It's more like a fake music made with machines; working with a band in the studio is only sustainable by giants.

What is your relationship with social media?

"On my social media and that of Marlene Kuntz, I'm connected with many of our followers, and I read their emotions and compliments, and that reinforces my feelings. From other perspectives, it's very bad because social media is full of tensions and arguments; it's a cage in which humanity finds itself at the service of the will of algorithms."
