Creativity in Sorso: Artists Experiment with "The Shapes of Water"

Four days of conviviality and sharing between artists and the community for an exchange of ideas, visions and skills on the great themes related to water. From 3 to 6 July in Sorso comes the artist residency “The forms of water between symbolism, rituality and culture” curated by the artists Maria Grazia Tuveri and Nicola Nadali, in a place where the cult of this natural element has ancient roots, shared with many civilizations of the Mediterranean: five artists will give life to widespread interventions creating live connections with the community through installations, performances and workshops.

Seven other artists will work at the Residence Natura, immersed in the greenery, where they will develop their projects in dialogue with the territory, the environment and collective memories . A mix of experiences that will transform the town into a place of meeting, listening and shared creation. Sorso, whose name indicates fluidity, still today preserves many sacred places of water, the sea, the pond, the fountain of Billellera, the Sacred Well of Serra Niedda.

The inauguration of the event, sponsored by the Municipality of Sorso, is scheduled for Thursday, July 3 from 5 to 8 pm in the laboratory room of the Palazzo Baronale , where the performer Enya Idda and the multimedia artist Chiara Ligi will meet the community to develop a work on the theme of "We". At the same time, from 6 pm, the relational artist Antonella Muresu will welcome visitors in Piazza San Pantaleo to create a work together on the "Memories of Water", made using pieces of fabric from discarded clothes donated by the citizens of the town.

On Friday 4 July from 10 to 10.30, in the spaces of the Lavatoio Comunale, the conceptual artist Maria Grazia Medda will perform a performance entitled “L'acqua siamo noi” (Water is us) . From 10.30 to 13 in the laboratory room of Palazzo Baronale, Enya Idda and Chiara Ligi will propose a second themed meeting. At 17.30 at the Lavatoio Comunale the illustrator and designer Monia Pala Concept artist proposes the installation “Animo dell'acqua” (Soul of water), which will be visible from the outside. From 18 to 20 Antonella Muresu will perform a second meeting in Piazza San Pantaleo to complete her collective work. From 19 to 21 in the Billellera fountain area the collective performance of the artists hosted in Residence will take place.

On Saturday 5th July, from 8.30 to 11.00, Monia Pala involves the community in her installation at the Lavatoio comunale . From 7.00 to 9.00 pm at the Palazzo Baronale it will be time for the vernissage, the inauguration of the exhibition of the artists in Residence, with the presentation of the art critic Valentina Calatri. The exhibition will remain open from 5th July to 30th August from Thursday to Saturday from 3.00 to 8.00 pm, while on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9.00 to 1.00 pm. On Sunday 6th July at 8.30 pm the final meeting at the Pozzo sacro di Serra Niedda, where Maria Grazia Medda will welcome the community for a performance dedicated to “L'acqua ci Lega”.
