Covid, the Beijing Winter Olympics "banned" for spectators from abroad
Only the home crowd is admitted to the games scheduled for February 2022, due to the restrictions imposed by the epidemic
Only “home” spectators, therefore Chinese, at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The IOC has in fact announced that the Games will not be open to spectators from abroad.
A decision taken - explained the Olympic committee itself - by virtue of the restrictions imposed in the country due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
The IOC also added that only "fully vaccinated" participants will be exempted from the 21-day quarantine required by the People's Republic authorities, unless athletes can provide "a justified medical exemption".
The Beijing Winter Olympics are scheduled for February 4-20, 2022. Having also organized the 2008 Summer Games, the Chinese capital is the first city to host both events.
