The work decree was approved by the Council of Ministers during the meeting symbolically convened today, May 1st.
Among the objectives: to increase the cut on the tax wedge to thus increase net salaries. "Around 3 billion euros are allocated, in the period between 1 July and 31 December 2023 (without further effects on the thirteenth salary), to increase the 4 percentage point cut in the tax wedge for employees compared to what was already foreseen in budget law", reads a note from the MEF.
With the cut in the tax wedge "approximately 3 billion euros are allocated, in the period between 1 July and 31 December 2023 (without further effects on the thirteenth salary), to increase the 4 percentage point cut in the tax wedge for employees compared to what is already foreseen in the budget law", and again: "The contribution relief, all for the benefit of workers, is therefore raised from 3% to 7% for incomes up to 25 thousand euros while it is raised from 2% to 6% for incomes up to 35 thousand. The increase in the payroll of employees is estimated, in the period July-December, up to 100 euros per month on average", concludes the note.
«We invest in workers and families. Let's lower taxes by up to 7 points for the lowest incomes: it's real help against the cost of living and the concrete answer to the chatter. Additional benefits for workers who have children also come into effect. We continue on the path responsible for growth by focusing on social emergencies» is the comment of Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy.
We have approved the work package. On a day dedicated to work and workers, the government also introduced important measures, in support of families with a further intervention on the contribution wedge and an intervention announced some time ago for the introduction of the inclusion allowance, in favor of families with conditions of fragility» added Marina Calderone, Minister of Labour.
