Here is “ E.Wa.s-Solutions for the environment and for water ”. It is the project that the Municipality of Nuoro , as lead partner of a partnership, is implementing in Uganda to ensure access to clean and safe water for the populations of the Adjumani district, in the north of the country. The start-up mission of the plan with which it intends to help create on the spot, through the correct use of a very precious resource, the foundations of a new development capable of stemming the migratory flows towards Europe has just been completed .

Plan

The cooperation project, in line with the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, is co-financed by the Region of Sardinia and is implemented in collaboration with the Adjumani district, Enas, the Sardinian water agency, the of Sassari and the voluntary association "Dreo - Deborah Ricciu Expanding Horizons".

Uganda will be supported in setting up a prototype laboratory for the analysis of domestic water to allow local authorities to monitor the quality of the resource supplied to the populations. All the subjects involved will make their skills available in the field of sustainable management of water resources, environmental education and strengthening the management skills of peripheral local authorities. In addition, a catalog of good practices for water management will be developed.

Uganda is involved in welcoming over 500,000 refugees from South Sudan, who live in 48 settlements. The territory of Adjumani alone is home to over 200,000 people fleeing war and persecution. All this leads to a continuous pressure on land resources: land, forests, wetlands and water.
