The serious economic and social situation affecting the North West of Sardinia has prompted all the social forces, the trade unions CGIL, CISL and UIL, together with the mayors of the underground network and the Province of Sassari to start a series of discussions aimed at giving impetus to the territory development.

The initiatives undertaken, aimed at a general mobilization, in order to resolve the many disputes pending in the area, have already produced the first results.

The president of the Sardinia Region Christian Solinas has written a letter to the premier Giorgia Meloni to ask for the activation of the control room of the Green Chemistry project .

In the letter, the governor requests the intervention of the Prime Minister to initiate the necessary discussions with the company Eni and to convene the control room in order to redefine the objectives of the Protocol signed in May 2011.

This was requested by the CGIL, CISL and UIL unions in March last year on the occasion of the convocation of the States General, gathered in the municipal theater of Sassari. Local institutions, social partners and economic operators who in 2011 signed the Protocol on Green Chemistry will have to participate in the meeting at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

"The aim is to proceed with the revision, updating and redefinition of the objectives of the agreement - reads the letter - as well as with the transformation of the institutional and economic commitments contained in the agreement, which have not yet been fulfilled, into a program agreement that restarts the investments and re-establish the commitments undertaken twelve years ago".

After a promising start with the construction of two of the seven plants and a long phase of production adjustment, the diatribe between Versalis and Novamont, the companies that own the Matrìca plants, resulted in the blocking of investments and dialogues.

The request to reactivate the control room represents a step forward in the construction of the Green Chemistry plants and therefore in the industrial reconversion.
