It is estimated that traffic will increase by approximately two million more passengers per year, with an economic impact of almost four hundred million and approximately one thousand new jobs.
It is the Balearic model applied to Sardinia, simulated yesterday morning in the meeting "Public service charges, service and intermodality", organized by Confapi Sardegna at Costa Smeralda. With a review of the system of public service charges, discounts dedicated to residents that incentivize demand by opening the market to free competition, the Balearic model could make the three airports of the Island fly at high altitude.
"The alternative model would have a multiplier effect: the Balearics have three airports like Sardinia but are able to attract a much more significant passenger traffic, 44 million in 2023 against the 9.6 million of Sardinia, thanks also to their system of public service charges and the introduction of a 75 percent discount for residents", explained the transport economist of the University of Milan Bicocca, Andrea Giuricin, author of the study commissioned by Confapi to help find solutions that respond to the real mobility needs of the Sardinians.
